I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home, to attend church, to hear the gospel, and to see Christian men and women live out the gospel in their lives.  At an early age, I recall hearing John 15:5, in which Jesus says: “I am the vine; you are the branches.  Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

At around age 11, the Holy Spirit convicted me that I could accomplish nothing good apart from Jesus.  By God’s grace, I realized the depths of my sinful nature, confessed and repented of my sins, and accepted the need to rest and rely solely on Jesus for my salvation.  Since that time, God has seen me through many trials.

God guided me to my wife Kim while I was attending college at the University of South Carolina.  Kim and I married in 1986.  We struggled together through the trials of my attending and graduating from law school, and we have remained married for 35 years.  We were blessed with a wonderful daughter, Ashley. From the beginning, Kim and I felt drawn by God to become part of Rivercrest.  It has been our privilege to be part of this church and watch it thrive, even through difficult times.
